| Reaped | you know... i have to pee. those banner adds are getting very nifty up there. almost wanna get one myself...but i don't think i do this enough to advertise. commercialism is bad anyway, especially if you're not making any money on it. so anyway. yesterday i saw my first nola accident. This old blue van just blew thru the intersection of jackson & s. claibourne, taking out an old chrysler and a street lamp with it. i slammed on the brakes and watched the traffic light wobble up and down, trying to decide if it would join its vehicular sister in a pile of shattered glass, crumpled metal & groaning humans in the neutral zone. it didn't, so we called 911 and drove on to work. time stops for no mouse, you know. the ref desk is dead. there is NO ONE here to help. that is the big difference between my crappy job as a student & the newer nicer job w/ more respect: whereas the crap job kept me busy with iliiterate college freshman & their numbnut fathers, this job presents a lack of anyone needing anything. i mean, even when you ask people if they need help they usually say no. they're doctors, c'mon. not that i'm complaining--one of the reasons library jobs are cool is that you get all this sit on your booty time to surf the web for interesting things. The downside: i am bored, i have to pee, and its still 45 minutes til the cigarette break. i'm starting to miss the assorted crazy, evil & annoying people that presented such fodder for previous dland entries, even if they did smell. oh well. you can see my tattoo today. i figure, its been a month. next week i might even start wearing the tank tops again. |
