| Reaped | well, didn't blow up on the way to nyc. check Monica's page for our outlandish deeds, and of course, more sick confessions of her inner turmoil. i love the smell of the city: like roated nuts and gas. everyone walks quickly and looks like a million bucks. first thing in manhattan i bought some roasted coconut, then we went to pearl river, this HUGE chinese dept. store that is super cheapo and has everything from wasabi rice crackers to a chinese pharmacy. this is where all the street vendors buy their wares, then sell it later for triple the price. planning to go back later for some japanese hello kitty candy and hippie slippers. so last night we went to the knitting factory and saw some bands. one was this rockabilly group Fandanglers, who did a cool cover of ring of fire by johnny cash. they had a really hot chick guitar player who wore pimp shades, a cowboy hat and sported a big ass tattoo on her shoulder. on the other floor there was this quasi emo-punk band called heroine shieks, who naturally had a black clad cooler than thou following. the lead singer came out for his encore wearing a baby tee and children's pooh head covering. how novel. the venue was interesting: four floors, lots of room, a coat check. interestingly enough, cheap beer and lots of cute boys, but of course none brave enough to talk to us. so we drank lots and talked loudly about sex and ex boyfriends. then we walked around tribeca at 2am, finally found the subway and fell asleep on the train. now we are going shopping. tune in later for more big city antics. |
