| Reaped | must quell the kvetchings today. only 5 days til the interview! woo hoo! again, let me repeat how stoked i am about relocating to the crescent city, regardless of job opportunities. reading over this list just makes me more excited. even the flying palmetto bugs, i love them. tales from the library continue, as thousands of insane patrons swarm to the one public air conditioned space in temple terrace. actually, just the one, the 'problem patron' as he is labeled, who comes to the desk and wants you to find, select and print out the 3 articles he needs for his class, meanwhile he stands there and tells you everything you find is not what he wants, but refuses to sit at a computer himself and learn how to search. so everyone in the reference dept. learns that it is not my job to do their homework, that i'd be happy to show them how to do it, but unless you got fiddy dollah, i ain't thinkin. higher thought processes don't come free from me anymore. but anyway, problem boy finally went away after i grudgingly gave him his 3 articles (along w/ a stern lecture about abuse of power & the martyrdom of reference librarians, etc), then chrissleepy called the refdesk to ask me how many lima beans it would take to get his parents out of his house, but really it was to coordinate illicit furg deals. entertaining day in that subversive way. and it is only 30 minutes til my break. AND mr. green is coming to town tonight to wish a happy fourth upon us all. celebrating our god-given right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of ganja. |
