4:42 p.m. Torrential Enormity 2003-08-04
Reaped It rained so hard & fast on Saturday that we had a foot of water in front of our house in 45 minutes. Imagine how fun it is to move your car through a river cum street with lighting blowing up right next to you.

Yeah. Not very.

But we made the most of it. Built paper boats & floated them down the street, dug up a campaign sign that someone stuck in front of our house Friday night & wrote NO WAKE in large permanent marker. The water went down after about an hour. What it is, the pumps here in the Crescent City can't handle more than one inch of water per hour. 2-3 inches an hour & you're SOL. Too bad the city planning commission didn't foresee such a thing happening back when they planned the pump system.

Or perhaps they did. The upside to this rhetoric is any time it threatens to get torrential we get sent home early. If you don't you simply can't get home.

Partially b/c of torrential rains, partially due to inertia, i sat at home all weekend & did nothing. Read a sci-fi version of jane eyre

, but it fell kinda flat. Good effort, but meh. Mass market paperback's generally sucked.

Started a crazy quilt for my friend, we'll see how that goes. Never made one before, but it seems a good way to cut down on smoking. Can't smoke with needles everywhere...usually.

& also happy b-day Mr. XXXXXX. May many women ask to choke on your enormous manhood.

...Well. My job is done.
