| Reaped | stats stats stats. who said librarians aren't number crunchers? we eat them for dinner. at least tonight. let's see, there's the public computer use study, the night time inquiry stats, and mo's weekly stats, subdivided into question categories. that's 3 different charts on the ref desk. gotta justify the paycheck somehow. tomorrow i'm returning to the muddy backwaters for a wedding. one of my high school friends is getting hitched to his first after-high school girlfriend-not surprising, considering he works for a church and it's the first girl he's been with. in some ways of reasoning, its the right thing to do. in other ways, the most suffocating. the last wedding i went to, or at least remember, was another couple of kids i knew from high school. he was a managers at checkers, she was the cashier. they did it at the spartan manor, backwater town's only grecian revival banquet hall and chapel. it was kinda spur of the moment--she was growing out of her wedding dress. her maid of honor was too. it was one of those ceremonies where at least 2 of the parents show up late and/or drunk. then we had to pay for our own food at the reception, but it was ok because they made fresh strawberry margaritas. shortly thereafter, i broke up with my current beau of the time, citing space issues. so it goes. this weekend should be much better than that though. its in a real church, for one. for seconds, they registered for wedgwood china. people who expect it not to last do not request 90 dollar place settings. or so it should be. it's also the 5 year band dork reunion, so i get to show up and silently laugh at all the schoolmates who have kids now and have a pissing contest over the best success story with the ones who dont. heh. it's gonna be wierd. especially sober. but i'm pretty excited. it's also tamela & library grrl's b-day. i wonder at the amount of scorpios chums i have. they must attract sagittarians. goats. whatever. i think sagittarians repel each other though. i can think of 2 other people i don't get along with who share the same sign. but then again, i'm a grumpy bitch so who knows? in any event, it will be nice to have a decent conversation with people that don't drive me crazy. then it's back to the crescent city to hone my herming skills. |
